I for one have done the exact same thing. I was at my last company and saw that several trailer tires were bald. I refused to pull the load and went through hell to get a service truck out there to fix it. Needless to say that was when I decided to find a new trucking company to work for. I was an owner op or lease driver, but now my company is Landstar and not Werner. How many of you out there have been faced with the same problem? Werner treated me like I was a liar about those tires and not the pro driver I was with a lot of safe years behind me. Would you do the same thing and refuse to pull the load?
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has ordered a Oregon-based trucking company owner to rehire and pay a former driver more than $115,200 in back wages after its investigation concluded that she was fired after refusing to drive a truck with a bad tire.
