Trucker Tough Cell Phones And Watches-Casio

I have to admit that I am tough on clothes, watches and cell phones. My work is not easy with pulling a flatbed, we tarp in all weather, bump into things with our arms and legs and generally tear the heck out of some clothing. Lot’s of sharp edges on some loads and throwing chains can break a watch or cell phone if the chain comes back on you and hit the cell phone carrier on your belt if you use one.

I have a graveyard of watches and watch bands from getting them caught in bungee cords or trying to position a tarp for coverage. My watches have taken a true beating.

I finally found one that has lasted for awhile now and it is not expensive.

Casio Men’s PAS400B-5V Pathfinder Forester Fishing Moon Phase Watch

  • Chronograph movement
  • Protective mineral crystal protects watch from scratches
  • Case diameter: 46 mm
  • Resin case; digital-gray dial; day-date-and-month functions
  • Water-resistant to 330 feet (100 M)

The Casio Forester moon phase fishing watch is the perfect timepiece for avid anglers, with a stylish design well suited for both land and sea wear. In addition to the automatic time, day, month and date displays, this convenient digital watch also indicates the best times to fish based on the moon’s phase, latitude and longitude. The watch displays the moon’s age, phase and time, as well as sunrise and sunset information, for the current or designated day. A handy vibration alert can be used with the daily alarm, hourly time signal, or fishing timer so as not to disturb the quiet on the water. The watch also offers a time memo, a 1/100 second stopwatch, and five daily alarm settings. An automatic electro-luminescent backlight with afterglow makes the display easy to read at any time, and the water-ready nylon band comes with a buckle clasp. The case is made from durable polyurethane resin, the bezel is resin and the watch is water resistant up to 330 feet (100 meters). This watch offers a battery life of approximately five years.

I also recently had to upgrade my cell phone to one that actually would not lose cell signal and not drop calls 5 to 6 times on my calls home. My wife was really getting frustrated with the poor call quality and the dropped calls. So, I went to a supervisor at Verizon and got ahold of somebody finally that could at least point me in the right direction.

I had found this certain brand and model of cell phone to be considered a good choice for my line of work. It was military compliant and they said it would have a much better antennae capability and would hold signal in remote areas. I tested it myself in some remote spots in the Texas panhandle and extreme western Oklahoma. I was impressed that it did not drop any calls, my wife actually could dial me up and it would ring through. I also saw that the signal strength was very good for such a remote and rolling terrain type of road.

Casio seems to have built a good phone product here. I was glad that my timing had just been good on this one as the phone model had only been out two weeks. I find no need for the extra antennae add-on’s that we have used in the past as truckers. The signal will hold just fine for most applications. Other job type persons may want to look at this for their work.
